Mostra: Chiaroveggenti a Roma. Sergio Ceccotti - Marco Verrelli

Dal testo di Guglielmo Gigliotti: «Che forma dare allo straniante che abita le cose e allo straniero che abita in noi? E il meraviglioso, questo sentimento così poco redditizio ma così gravido di bellezza: come dipingerlo?

Ceccotti e Verrelli prendono in prestito squarci di Roma, particolari talvolta irrilevanti, e chiedono loro di cantare il grande enigma della vita. Lo fanno però con modalità sommesse, cercano una Roma secondaria, e la immergono in luci immobili e astratte, la impregnano di assenze e di silenzi e le insufflano quello che de Chirico definiva il presagio del non senso dell’universo. Sono immagini-dubbio, in Ceccotti ispirate al cinema noir, in Verrelli ad Hopper e ai precisionisti, ma per entrambi immagini insieme chiare ed ermetiche, al contempo viste e sognate. Sono immagini-dubbio perché loro per prime, le immagini, dubitano che le apparenze che contengono siano la realtà, dubitano quindi di se stesse.

Nella loro apparente solidità ed evidenza, a brillare è sempre il lato notturno della luce e le vertigini nascoste nel banale. In altre parole, Ceccotti e Verrelli sono dei chiaroveggenti.

Actor Ivan Boragine on Gomorra, Growing up in Napoli and his Love for Theater

Neapolitan actor Ivan Boragine embraces everything that is Napoli. From his pride and passion to his nostalgia and sadness, Napoli is always in his heart. Italian Biblical Movies to Watch During Lent

Join me in beginning the Lenten season with my favorite adaptation of one of the Gospels- Pier Paolo Pasolini's 1964 “Il Vangolo Secondo Matteo" (The Gospel According to St. Matthew) and a few classics that I recently discovered. Considered by the Vatican to be among the best film adaptations of the Gospels, Pasolini's film was shot in the regions of Basilicata and Calabria. He cast his mother as Mary and many locals as extras. Spanish actor Enrique Irazoqui was cast in the role of Jesus. He was just 18-years-old when he landed the part. He had been in Rome at the time of casting and auditioned for the role. I contacted Irazoqui around this time last year to ask him about his experience making the film. Luminous Legacies: Yoichi Ohira’s Murano Glass at Magazzino Italian Art

A new exhibition in Cold Spring, New York, is bringing the luminous legacy of Murano glassmaking into focus through the work of Japanese artist Yoichi Ohira. “Yoichi Ohira: Japan in Murano” is on view at Magazzino Italian Art until February 2027. The exhibit showcases the work of Ohira, who became a leading figure in the design of Venetian glassworks on the island of Murano. The exhibition features works that highlight the uniqueness of Ohira’s art across the decades of his career. Ohira’s earliest Murano works blend Venetian glass techniques with his own style. These pieces show balanced shapes, clear surfaces, and striking color combinations. Ornella Muti: Five decades of Acting and Still Going Strong

Ornella Muti was born Francesca Romana Rivelli in Rome in 1955 to a Neapolitan father and an Estonian mother. She began her career as a model during her teenage years and made her film debut in 1970 with “La Moglie più bella” (The Most Beautiful Wife).
