With the news of another refugee child found dead today in the waters of the Mediterranean, humanitarian efforts are needed and appreciated more than ever. One movement that is contributing to children throughout the world, especially those affected by the Syrian War, is Every Child is My Child , an association that began shortly after the bombing of a children’s hospital in Aleppo. The association is run by a group of Italian celebrities, which include Anna Foglietta, Edoardo Leo, Veronica De Laurentiis, Marco Bonini, Paola Cortellesi, Valerio Mastandrea and many others. The goal is to bring attention to the plight of children not only in Syria but across the world as they have become refugees and try to integrate into the culture of different countries. Actors Andrea Bosca and Anna Foglietta participated in a press conference to talk about the movement at the Casa del Cinema in Rome. I read a quote about Paolo Genovese’s “Perfetti sconosciuti” (Perfect Strangers) -   “Un film che rimane impresso, prima nella pancia e poi nella mente.” –A film that remains first in the stomach and then in the mind. That sums up how you will feel upon watching the film. If you’re a filmmaker, you will take it one step further by asking yourself, "Why didn’t I think of that?” This is a universal story, a testament to the times in which we live. Shooting for a television series inspired by Pierfrancesco Diliberto's internationally loved film, "La mafia uccide solo d'estate" (The mafia only kills in the summer) begins on Monday, February 8. The series will be directed by Luca Riboli and will feature actors Claudio Gioe, Anna Foglietta, Valentina D'Agostino and Nino Frassia. Shooting will take place in Rome and Palermo. "La mafia uccide solo d'estate" is a unique portrait of Palermo’s tormented Mafia years during the early 90’s. Told from the point of view of the city’s residents, the story focuses on a child that innocently looks up to the political leaders of his country until he begins to understand the corruption by witnessing the violence with his own eyes.
