Cineuropa just announced that Italian actress Sara Serraiocco has been named one of the 2016 European Shooting Stars.
Serraiocco landed the lead role in Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza's 2013 film "Salvo" after studying at the Rome's Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Her performance as a young blind girl brought her numerous awards as Best Newcomer or Best Actress and was followed by another award-winning lead role in Lamberto Sanfelice's "Cloro." In 2014, Sara was picked by the veteran director Liliana Cavani to portray Chiara of Assisi in the "Francesco" mini-series.
It's no doubt that Serraiocco contributed to the success of "Cloro". The film had a huge year in 2015, making its North American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and then at the Berlin Film Festival before coming to New York City's annual showcase of contemporary Italian cinema, Open Roads: New Italian Cinema. Congratulations to Sara from Italian Cinema & Art Today!
